DECEIT - The Fad of the Nineties (additional information)
For sociologically complex reasons, the individual today is being deceived more than he/she has ever been, at least in the recent past. That remains true, whether he/she is having very casual exchanges, such as those involving writing to a magazine, calling a radio station promising prizes to certain callers, dialing the free psychic 800 number; or he/she is embarking in more serious ventures, for example, those related to major purchases, large financial transactions, or important investments. The individual is also often deceived when providing his/her full time services to an organization that pays him/her a regular salary.
The book emphasizes the recent dramatic spread of all types of deceit, while placing special emphasis on those taking place at the upper levels of certain high profile communities - for example, the legal, the medical, the scientific community. It demonstrates how any such community totally controls the career and professional life of each of its members, often turning deadly towards those among them endowed with the necessary vision to recognize the deceit. The book also provides examples of deceitful practices in the gold industry, as experienced by the author, a scientist herself and expert in precious metals.
